Now I’m not going to write some huge review, coz I simply just can’t be bothered, heh! Also I really need to see the film again to get my head around everything that happened.
And yes, obviously, it was different to the book – things were altered and things were cut. But that’s to be expected.
I actually avoided re-reading the book and watching “spoilerish” stuff beforehand because I wanted to go into the film with a fresh mind – I knew that my thoughts would be clouded otherwise. I think this helped me to enjoy it a lot more, as has been the case with the previous films.
I did enjoy it, quite action packed. But I was a bit tired so my attention span was sadly lacking. That, and a few things marred the cinema experience. One – the people sitting next to me talked throughout the whole film. It was so bloody annoying! I kept trying and trying to ignore them, but there were a few times when I was really close to snapping “SHUT UP!” at them.
The second thing – was that the film projector went a bit off-kilter on the screen, making the bottom show at the top with a thickish black line in between. This happened towards the end, which made it really awkward to watch. Thankfully someone must have gone out to inform one of the cinema workers because the problem was rectified, but it was really frustrating.
The acting has improved a great deal, particularly from Dan. He’s in virtually every single scene, so it must have been a hell of a lot of work.
The Snape scenes were great, but there weren’t enough! And there wasn’t as much Lupin, Tonks, Luna, or Ginny as I would have liked. I thought the outfit Sirius wore was pretty cool though
Imelda Staunton was the PERFECT Umbridge – she played the role brilliantly, probably one of the best aspects of the entire film – even though she was such a nasty bitch, heh!
Fred and George Weasley’s “anarchy” scene was hilarious, and after the way Umbridge had been acting it was just brilliant to see the look on her face.
All in all I really liked it, but I do need to see it a few more times, when I’m less tired (hardly slept a wink last night), and when the film doesn’t mess up, and when there aren’t idiots freakin’ talking the whole time. Honestly… I had to wonder if they’re like that when they’re at home watching something on TV, just “blah blah blah” about everything. “Ooh I don’t remember this bit in the book!” or, for god’s sake, repeating what characters had said. YEESH!
But don’t go by my thoughts, it’s hard for me to really explain how I felt about it all without a second or third viewing.
See it for yourself
